It’s a small world! A few weeks ago, a sweet lady contacted me with a lovely Wanderbelt related story. She told me she had ordered a Wanderbelt as a present for her daughter Nina, who loves to travel to Asia. And apparently, during her trip to South East Asia in 2015, Nina had bumped into Laura. Yep, the same Laura who was at the time one of the first female travelers using the Wanderbelt! Curious about her story, I got in touch with Nina, and here she is, talking about her experiences as a solo female traveler!

Hi Nina, so you love traveling to Asia. Where have you been to already? Do you usually travel alone, and if so, what do you like about it the most?
Hi Margot, Yes I do :-) I’ve been to Thailand several times, traveled through Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and Cambodia. I always travel solo, except for the trip to Malaysia.
I love to travel alone because of a few things; It's just me, so I don't have to worry about anything or anyone else, except for me. This way I can re-charge my battery, a bit me time...
By traveling solo I've learn(ed) a lot about myself, to trust my gut feeling, that I am stronger than I thought I was. Plus I love to meet people from all over the world. So many different stories!

Any word of advice, tips or tricks you would like to share with other female travelers who have desire for traveling the world, but still need a little push to help believe they can do it?
Never ever ignore your gut-feeling, make sure you are around people if you feel you need to, and if you want to know something (or meet new people) don’t be afraid to walk up to someone and just ask. But most of all, don’t think too much and just go! You can always return home if it is not your thing… ;-)

How and where did you met up with Laura? What was the most, special, fun or crazy experience the two of you shared together?
We kind of bumped into each other on the street in Krabi, Thailand. Started talking and traveled together for a while after that. I really liked traveling with Laura, but If I have to choose a specific moment... I think the most crazy thing was that we hiked through a cave in Khao Sok National Park. We both conquered some fears that day, it was amazing!

When you girls met, Laura showed you the Wanderbelt prototype she was traveling with. What did you think of it?
I loved it, especially the part where you attach it to your bra.

Until now, how did you carry your valuable items (money, passport, credit cards,…) while traveling? Why do you prefer the Wanderbelt?
I carry my valuables in my (I call it "nerd-belt") money belt. It is almost the same as the Wanderbelt, except for the part you strap it to your bra. You are meant to wear the money belt around your hips, but I always used to put it up high underneath my breast. But it kept sliding down. Plus if people want, you can easily open the fastener and take it. That’s what I like the most about the Wanderbelt. You have an extra security because it is strapped to your bra plus it doesn’t press into your stomach the whole time.

What are your next travel plans or dreams and will you then take your Wanderbelt with you?
My next trip is in 2,5 months and this time I'm off to Laos and maybe a bit of Cambodia again… well see ;-) I am not a big planner ha ha ha. Of course I’m taking the Wanderbelt with me, I can’t wait!

Cool! Thanks for sharing your story! On your return from Laos and Cambodia, I would love to hear all about your latest travel adventures and about your experience with the Wanderbelt. In the meantime, happy travels Nina, have fun and take care xxx
