Wanderbelt product review by Gerda

First of all I want to introduce myself. I’m 54 and as you can see in the picture’s no model material. Just before my 6 week Thailand trip a friend of mine liked the Wanderbelt on Facebook. I have a belt that has to be worn on the belly which always annoys me because it makes my belly even bigger than it already is. I wanted to order the Wanderbelt but it was still in production so I contacted the designer and offered to test drive it in Thailand. She sent me a trial version of the belt to use.

My first impression of the belt was that the design was wonderful. Everything you need would fit in snugly. The problem child to put away being a passport has its own space in the belt. Next there is a part where you can put money and cards and last it also has a separate part for only cards.

While trying on the Wanderbelt, I was happy to see that the side that is attached to your bra was big enough to even slip over my big bra sides. The elastic band that go’s around your body can be adjusted to your size and also is big enough to fit around my body. It felt comfortable and I was excited to test it in Thailand.

I first used the belt in the plane and I didn’t even notice that I was wearing it. It fits comfortably. I had a little irritation on my side after wearing it for a week but I think that was mostly due to the fabric. Also when you are sweating very much, like you tend to do in Thailand, the belt gets wet and everything inside it as well. I put my passport in a plastic bag and the problem was solved. I will remind you that I was wearing a trial version; the final version would have a liquid repellent fabric. After returning from my trip I got to view the definite version and I have to say that this fabric was far better than the fabric from my trial version.

Like I said I wore the belt all the time. It fits under your top without showing and it even fit under a dress with a tight fit. It does not show at all. You can take something out easily. Most of the time I went to the toilet to remove something from the Wanderbelt but sometimes I just tugged under my shirt to get something out. People didn’t even notice. That for me was very important. It is practical, light weight and you can sit with it just as easy as if standing. On the night train to Chiang Mai I even slept with it. You don’t have to tug it into your pants like the normal ones. The design is amazing and I really like it.

I am left handed and would have loved a left handed Wanderbelt. I put it on my left side, where as a left hander I liked it, without any problems. The only counterpart was that the closure of the elastic band that goes around your body is on your back and not on your front. This is not a big problem as you only have to put it one once a day. This just is something you have to realise but for me it was not a setback at all. If you want the closure on the front just carry the belt on your right side. This doesn’t give any problems. I just wanted it on my left side.

I have to admit that I took my regular money belt with me on the trip just in case. It never came out of my suitcase.

The little purse that comes with the belt I didn’t use. It is nice and I can see me using it but I did not need it on this trip. You can attach it to the belt which is a big plus.

I got to see the first official Wanderbelt after coming back from Thailand. Some of my remarks are not an issue anymore. The fabric is changed in a liquid repellent fabric that also is much softer than the fabric of the one I tried. That should take care of the irritation I had and the wet passport. Also the elastic band that goes around your body is from a softer material. I did not have problems with the elastic on the trial version but it is nice anyway.

I did not like the print on the Wanderbelt because it could shine through your clothing. This problem is solved by making two different ones: one with print, for those who like the beautiful print, and one without print for the rest of us. Good thinking designer.

In conclusion the Wanderbelt is what I always wanted on my travels: a women friendly belt that doesn’t give you extra volume on the belly. It is handy and easy to wear. I see myself not only wearing it on far away long trips but also on weekend trips or to a festival. Thanks for letting me try your wonderful Wanderbelt.

Dear fans,

Thank you very much for your enthusiasm and great support! The Wanderbelt is currently in production. We are working very hard make the product meet our very high standards in order to be able to offer you the best money-belt for travelling woman ever :-)

Unfortunately we are not ready to release it yet. Indeed, we're through half of August soon, and we're facing a bit of delay...

As we love the Wanderbelt and believe in it, for us quality comes first, even if it means the product will be launched a little later than we had hoped for.

I'm very sorry if the Wanderbelt won't be available yet for your next upcoming trip. We'll be ready for Christmas 2015 and release it by end of November. For the early birds having signed up upfront, we'll do everything possible to release it earlier. We'll keep you informed as soon as we're ready to ship.

Thank you for your signing up and for your patience. Our offer for free worldwide shipping on your purchase of course remains valid.

As a sneak preview, please check out the pictures of the 2 final colours versions. There will be a ‘printed’ version with our own special travel map print on it, and a fully skin coloured ‘plain’ version which can be hidden even more discreetly under your clothes.

We'll be in touch!
Warm regards and happy travels,

Margot
